I forgot to put my hair in a ponytail this morning-that was a mistake. Wet, hot, stringy hair in my face and on my neck. Yuck.
Flimsy flip flops and rotten railroad ties and a damp driveway don't mix. I've always told my kids, "wear tennis shoes when you do yard work." I should heed my own advice, although truth be told, I was only going to pull weeds and flip flops are fine for that, aren't they? Once I got started in the garden, however, I kept seeing more things to do. Including the old railroad tie that I wanted moved up to the curb. Right now. Not later in the day. Not when one of my big, strong sons was available--now. And being "superwoman", I didn't think to (or want to take time to . . . :-) put on "real" shoes. My bad. While heaving a large railroad tie and standing on the wet driveway in rubber flip flops, I lost my footing and slipped, scraping a hunk of skin off the ball of my foot. Ouch. Blood. Dirt and grit. Swelling. Pain.
I hope I've learned my lesson . . . !
Running stats: a fast 9 minute mile on Saturday, 3.5 on Monday, no run on Tuesday (due to injury) and 3 slow miles this morning. Probably shouldn't have run this morning, as I developed a blister inside the scrape. Oh well.
Give thanks to the Lord of hosts,
for the Lord is good,
for His steadfast love endures forever!
