Slow but steady

Dreading the heat and humidity, I reluctantly got up at 5:31 to run. I wasn't feeling it. In fact, I was thinking that I'm too old and too tired for all this nonsense. Running, at my age, . . . I mean, really! Nevertheless, I was up, dressed, and ready, so I started out.

My plan was to run 3, maybe 3.5. Despite the weather, the bad attitude, the breathing issues, I felt pretty good as I began running. I had decided to focus on prayer, rather than my to-do list, as I ran, and I think that helped. (I have also realized that lately my prayer life is floundering as well as my desire to memorize scripture. Another good reason to be in the Word, before I'm on the computer.)

Anyway, I kept feeling good, so I added a few extra loops and legs, and ended up running 5 miles this morning. Thanking the Lord for giving me strength and perseverance today.

  1. What a wonderful job, in spite of feelings of dread!

I appreciate you honesty about struggling with things. I desire to be in the Word, memorizing, and praying...but I have days when I feel myself floundering, too. But, God is so faithful to me...esp on those days. I know he is always there..even though I may not *feel* Him there. That is so reassuring and makes me continue on.

Have a blessed Monday, Mary Ann!

  2. On Saturday, a 75 year old man finished right after me. I thought that was so amazing! I've seen people that age and older run marathons too and I love that just because they are older, they keep going. Such a picture to me of how we should finish well - continuing to study the word and serve others to the end.

Amen!!! I'm trying so hard to stop stumbling here... so hard...

So glad you were able to get two extra miles in! :)

  4. I don't think I would "feel" like a run at 5.30am either!!!! But good for you getting out there and running even further than you anticipated, I admire your determination and more than that your desire to be in God's Word.
