This morning I didn't have a lot of time to run, and I had run about 4.5 miles yesterday and my legs were feeling a bit tight, so I decided to map out a one mile run in my neighborhood and give it a try. I used this: http://www.usatf.org/routes/map/ to find a flat one mile run.
I'm not a fast runner; I would guess my normal pace is a 10- 10:15 mile. Just guessing-I don't know. This morning I ran the one mile route in 9 minutes, 30 seconds. I was pleased and will add this as a regular part of my training.
Could I ever run faster than that? Could I ever run that fast for longer than a mile? It's hard to imagine, although I had a 9:43 pace in the recent (and rainy!) Toad Suck 10K. I definitely run faster/harder when I'm competing with people and not just the stopwatch..
Now for a treat--a freshly baked English Royalty Chocolate Chip Scone (www.allrecipes.com) and some English breakfast tea. And most importantly, time in the Word, before moving into a busy day.
Grace and peace~
