The ups and downs of looking up

The background:

Yesterday was a challenging day, but I had a good walking prayer-time with my friend, and that was an encouragement and blessing.

The A/C went out last night-not good during an Arkansas summer for a woman who frequently hot-flashes.

So, I got up to run this morning, feeling re-discouraged about yesterday's challenge, and hot before I even started running. After shuffling, *ahem* running, a couple of blocks, I looked up as I turned the corner and God revealed His glory in a most beautiful pink cloud and golden sunrise. Our God reigns! Thank you Lord.

Continuing on, I ran through a small apartment complex, and looking up, I fell down. Flat. A speed bump did its thing and slowed me down. Way down. But not out. I didn't have to phone home. My palms were scraped, my hip was bruised, but no blood (no glory? :-). I continued on. Thankful for strong bones. I ran about 4.5 miles.

On another note, I'm eager for an update from Kim re her visit to the doctor.

Standing on the promises . . .

  1. Mary Ann, I have actually fallen a few times running myself and its not fun. I am sorry about the various trials that you are going through. I am thankful for a God who has the most unique ways of encouraging us. As I was learning on my run just this morning...His glory displays itself in our lives sometimes in very small ways and sometimes He uses the greatness of His creation. Either way, yes, our God does indeed reign!

  2. Taking in creation is one of my favourite things about running! Good for you getting up and continuing on your run - I would have probably hobbled home and had a pity party!!! :)
